Important Notice Before You Upgrade
Memberium 4.0 brings new features, improved performance, and better reliability, but once you upgrade, you cannot downgrade to a previous version.
To ensure a smooth transition, we strongly recommend taking a full backup of your WordPress site and database before updating. This way, if you run into any issues, you’ll have the option to restore your previous version.
If you don’t already have a backup plugin, two popular plugins we see often are…
• All-in-One WP Migration– A simple and effective way to back up and restore your WordPress site.
• UpdraftPlus– Allows you to create scheduled and manual backups, storing them in a cloud service like Google Drive or Dropbox.
If you need any assistance with the update, please reach out to support proceeding.
What’s New in Memberium 4.0
New Branding
Memberium 4.0 includes an updated design with our latest branding. While functionality remains the same, you’ll notice a refreshed look that aligns with the Memberium brand.
Team Accounts (Previously Umbrella Accounts)
The Umbrella Accounts feature is now called Team Accounts, and it has been upgraded to give you more flexibility in selling bulk access to your membership content.

With Team Accounts, you can:
• Create multiple Teams, each with its own access rules.
• Assign different seat limits to different courses or products.
• Sell bulk access to individual courses with a set number of seats per product.
This makes it easier than ever to sell group access while maintaining control over how many users each team can add.
Active Child Tag
A new Active Child Tag feature has been added to help you prune inactive child accounts in Keap.

Now, if a parent account has any active membership, you can automatically tag their child users in Keap. This allows you to:
• Keep track of which child accounts are still active.
• Easily remove inactive child contacts from Keap to keep your CRM clean and efficient.
Keap OAuth Failover for Improved Reliability
Memberium now automatically switches to Keap OAuth authentication if the SAK authentication method is exhausted or unavailable.

This means:
• If SAK runs out of API calls, Memberium will automatically fail over to OAuth, ensuring uninterrupted access.
• Your site remains operational and connected to Keap even if API call limits are reached.
• Improved reliability and reduced risk of connection failures.
Database Structure Improvements
We’ve made under-the-hood changes to Memberium’s database structure to increase performance and reliability.
This is why Memberium 4.0 does not support downgrades—the new database structure is not backward compatible with previous versions. Upgrading to 4.0 is a one-way transition, so backing up your site before updating is essential.
