Does this shortcode verify the new email address to be correct

No, this shortcode merely makes the change.  The user is prompted to verify the new email address, but it is not otherwise confirmed.

Does this shortcode opt-in the new email address in Infusionsoft?

Yes, the new email address will be single opted-in to Infusionsoft with a note that the change was made through Memberium.

Does this shortcode let a user change their email to an email that already exists in the system? (what happens with duplicate emails?)

No, your user will receive an error if they enter an email that already exists in the system since that would create a duplicate.

You might try having them contact your support team if they want to change their email and it already exists in the system. (so your team can merge their records together from within Infusionsoft)
