[LMS] Memberium Membership Site Onboarding and Fulfillment Campaign

Getting your customers to login and get started with your membership program for the first time is a crucial step. This campaign follows up to make sure they get started and they make a habit of going through your program from the beginning instead of dropping off.

Another thing that happens is we all get busy. This campaign will remind members to come back and keep moving forward. If they don’t end up finishing that much of your program, most likely they won’t feel they got much value and they’ll be more likely to cancel their membership. It’s in your best interest for them to start getting value (real results) out of your program as soon as possible after joining, or ideally all of it. These emails will help remind them to finish your course and then give them an opportunity to move to another product you offer.

How to Setup the Campaign?

 

Here’s an overview of the entire campaign. In the rest of this post, we’ll cover what you’ll need to do to set everything up while explaining the different elements of the campaign.

Although this campaign may look long and complicated, it’s really simple to get implemented on your site. The campaign really has three main parts:

  1. Onboarding and Login Reminders
  2. Course Reminders / Followups
  3. Next Steps & Feedback


Triggering the Campaign

 

The Campaign is triggered by one of two things. The first being a tag goal. Set the tag to something named “YOUR COURSE – Test tag to simulate purchase”. Now, whenever you apply this tag to a contact, they’ll be added to the campaign just as if they paid for the course.

The second and primary way people will enter the campaign is through the “Product Purchased” goal. This goal is triggered when someone purchases your product (Infusionsoft Product) through an Infusionsoft order form.


Program Fulfillment & Welcome Sequence

The next item in the campaign is the Program Fulfillment & Welcome sequence.

First, you’ll apply your Membership Access Tag. This is what actually gives the member access to the membership content. Next, you’ll generate a password for the user using the Memberium HTTP POST. A 1 minute delay timer gives the password time to generate before sending a welcome email.

In the welcome email, you’ll need to do the following:

  • Update the from address
  • Update the subject line – replace anything in [brackets]
  • Replace any bracketed content in the email body. For example, [Insert name of course] would be replaced with your course name.
  • Update the login link in the email with a link to your login form on your site
  • Lastly, update the signature at the bottom of the email

Those steps are the same for most of the emails in this campaign. Everything is already written, but you’ll need to add your course name and links to the emails.

At the bottom of the sequence, you’ll see another start with a remove tag action. You will use this to remove the PAYF tag for your course. We’re only doing this as a preventative measure as sometimes a member will enter incorrect payment details on the order form and a PAYF tag may be applied. Then they’ll resubmit the order form with the correct details and the charge will go through.

We’re ensuring this tag is removed so they have access to the course.

The last two items in this sequence work together. The delay timer gives the member 1 day to login to the site before it applies a tag that will pass them to a login reminder sequence.

 

When the member logs into the site, we’ll have Memberium apply a tag that will trigger these two goals above. That will stop the login reminder emails from starting and stop them if they already started.


Login Reminder Sequence

The tag you applied at the end of the last sequence will trigger this sequence. Make sure you set them to the same tag so they are “linked” or connected.

Inside of the Login Reminders sequence, you’ll simply publish the delay timers and the emails. Inside of the emails, you’ll change the following:

  • Update the from address
  • Update the subject line – replace anything in [brackets]
  • Replace any bracketed content in the email body. For example, [Insert name of course] would be replaced with your course name.
  • Update the login link in the email with a link to your login form on your site
  • Lastly, update the signature at the bottom of the email

Additionally, you’ll see there are voice broadcasts in the reminder sequence. These are included to try to reach the member in the event our emails are going to spam. These can optionally be removed or replaced with SMS messages (using something like PlusThis or FixYourFunnel)

If the member hasn’t logged in after all those reminders, we finally create a task. This will require you or someone from your support team to reach out to the member and complete the task in Infusionsoft.

Once the task is completed, the “Login Resent” sequence will be triggered which resends the welcome email. Make sure to update those emails.

From there, nothing else will happen until the member logs into the site. The next setup step explains how we track that.


First Login Achieved Goals

As mentioned earlier, these goals will need to be triggered when the user logs in for the first time. We can do this by first setting a tag inside the goal (you can create a new one) and then using a shortcode on the course homepage.

[memb_set_tag tag_id=XXXX]

Using the shortcode above, replacing XXXX with the tag ID of the tag you set in the goals, you’ll place that on your course homepage and when a member accesses the page, Memberium will apply the tag to the member.

This will trigger the two goals, stopping the previous sequences and starting the rest of the campaign.


Module Reminder Sequences

After the member logs in, the user will be placed in the Module #1 Reminders sequence. This sequence along with all the other “Reminders” sequences are the same when it comes to the content inside, but each one will be slightly customized to that specific module or course it is reminding the member to complete.

 

This sequence is designed to get students in the habit of logging into the course every few days.

 

Simply publish the delay timers and the emails.

The emails in this sequence are the same as the other sequences except for one thing. Rather than including a link to the login page and their password, we’re using a Memberium AutoLogin link.

You can get this link by going to Memberium > Settings > HTTP POSTs / Links and then copy the “Email Autologin Example”

Use that link in the email where it says “Click here to resume where you last left off”

You’ll do this for all the emails in the sequence.

In the event the member still hasn’t completed the module after all these reminders, we’ll send a voice broadcast and apply a tag at the end of the sequence. This will trigger the sequence in the next step…


Long Term Reminder Emails

In the event a member made it through all the reminders in one of the module-specific sequences, the tag at the end of that sequence will need to trigger the tag goal pictured below…

Once the tag is applied, it will start the long term course reminder sequence. This will send email reminders on a long term basis.

This sequence will be stopped when the member completes a module.

The other way it can be stopped if the member cancels, has a payment failure, or opts our of emails. These are all accomplished with tags as shown above.


Course Completion Goal

Anytime someone completes a module, we want to stop sending reminders for that one and start reminders for the next module. We’ll do this with the goals highlighted above.

You’ll create individual Infusionsoft tags for each module and then set those tags to be applied using the Memberium LearnDash/LifterLMS integration. Here’s an example of what this looks like in LearnDash…

Once a member marks the final lesson as complete in LearnDash – LearnDash considers the course completed and will apply the tag you set. This will advance the member in the campaign to the next module.


Final Module Complete

After the final module is complete, the member will be placed in a final sequence that congratulates them on completing all the modules and then sends an email with next steps. A couple of days later, you’ll send an email requesting feedback you can use to improve your course.

 

Campaign Options

Of course, we’re providing this campaign to you as a template. You are welcome to change the campaign as needed to fit your needs.

You can add additional reminder emails or you can remove some if you feel there are too many.
