We’re excited to announce a new pricing plan that makes it even more affordable to start a new course or membership site with Memberium for ActiveCampaign.
The new “Starter” plan allows you to start a new course or membership site with Memberium and ActiveCampaign for just $9 a month (this doesn’t include the price of ActiveCampaign or any other add-ons).
The way this plan works is you can have up to 50 WordPress users (including WP admin users) on your site with the starter plan. This allows first-time course creators to make their first 50 course sales, or acquire their first 50 members using this new plan.
After you reach 50 users, you’ll need a Standard or Pro level Memberium for ActiveCampaign license to continue.
The hardest part for most online course / membership site owners is making their first 10-20 sales. The new starter license allows you to get started for just $9/month. So you can make your first 50 sales to prove your concept for your program works affordably.
Throughout the rest of this article, we’ll share some advice you can use to start your new course or membership site affordably with this new Starter plan. We’ll also share an Ecommerce tool you can use to sell your course with for free…

How the Starter Plan Works & Who It's For
This crisis has disrupted almost everyone’s usual way of doing business. To continue operating in this new digital (and remote) economy, business owners need to figure out how to digitize their products and services quickly.
We came out with this new Starter plan to make it easier for business owners to start their first course or membership site affordably.
The e-learning industry was already one of the fastest-growing areas of the economy over the last few years. With people now being able only to connect digitally for the near future, it’s now set to explode.
The Starter plan allows you to use Memberium for ActiveCampaign with up to 50 WordPress users on your WordPress site. This total also includes admin users within your WordPress site. Besides the limited user count, all the same features are included in the Starter plan that a Standard license comes with.
This means you’ll be able to make your first 50 or so sales of your membership or course with Memberium for ActiveCampaign’s new Starter plan.
To find out how much that would be worth to you and to set some future goals to start working towards, check out our membership site revenue calculator or online course calculator and run some numbers to see how much that could be worth to you…
What happens after you have more than 50 WordPress users on your site?
After you reach 50 WordPress users (this total includes WP admin users) within your site, you’ll need to upgrade your Memberium for ActiveCampaign license to a Standard or Pro level plan to continue using Memberium.
An Affordable Tech Stack to Run Your Course or Membership On
A lot of people are looking to start their new idea for their course or membership site affordably. Here we’ll give you some advice you can use to get started and explain the different pieces involved in running an automated course or membership program…
The three main things you need to get started are…
- Price Based on List SizeActiveCampaign will serve as the heart of your course or membership that will allow you to automate your site and run everything through. It will also help you to grow and market your online business. The price you'll have to pay will vary based on how many contacts you have on your email list. Plans start as low as $15/month. If you don't have an account yet, you can get started with a free trial here...
Memberium for ActiveCampaign + WordPressStarts at $9/monthTo start your course or membership, you'll need a smart membership plugin like Memberium. The new starter plan allows you to get started for just $9/month. You'll also need a hosting account with WordPress installed which you should already have if you're running a business.
Ecommerce Plugin or Add-On (WooCommerce)FREEIf you want to sell an online course, membership site or any digital product with ActiveCampaign, you'll need a separate eCommerce add-on since ActiveCampaign doesn't handle Ecommerce. We'll cover one option you can use for free (WooCommerce) and the other options available.
Which Ecommerce plugin should you use with ActiveCampaign?
This answer depends on whether you want to start a course or membership program. It also depends on where your business is at.
If this is the first time you’re launching a course or membership program, we’d recommend you start by offering an online course first so you can keep it simple.
It’s going to be much easier to start. You can pre-sell access to it before you film your content. There’s quite a few other reasons why a course is a better option to start with. This allows you to prove your concept can work before investing a ton of your time in producing an in depth membership site that you aren’t sure anyone will buy.
After you’ve proven that you can sell your course, you can evolve your course into a membership program later down the line. If you’re still not sure about whether a course or membership is right for you, here’s an article with some helpful advice on that topic.
Only Selling a Course or Other One Off Digital Products? Use WooCommerce for Free to Get Started
If you’re selling an online course, or any digital products for a one time fee and you’re on a tight budget, the good news is you can use WooCommerce for free with Memberium for ActiveCampaign.
The way this works is you create your course and digital products that you’re selling through WooCommerce. When someone buys a specific product, Memberium for ActiveCampaign allows you to automatically apply an ActiveCampaign tag to that customer’s record, signaling they’ve purchased that specific product.
The other automated part that happens here is they’ll automatically sent an email after on how to access that product through your WordPress site. Memberium then unlocks that specific area of your site since they’ve paid for it and they can access the content they’ve paid for, be it a course, download or any type of digital product you’re selling through your site.
You can also sell and deliver multiple one-off products this way with WooCommerce. For example, you can sell multiple course products, digital files, ebooks any digital file for a paid amount, all within the same site. Selling Subscriptions With WooCommerce Requires WooCommerce Subscriptions
If you want to sell subscriptions (like a recurring membership program) with WooCommerce, you need to use the paid add on called WooCommerce Subscriptions that costs $199/year.
Memberium for ActiveCampaign provides automation functionality for WooCommerce. We enable you to apply tags when any purchase is made, a payment fails, and when a subscription is suspended or cancelled.
If you aren’t planning on selling subscriptions with your site, you don’t need to use this paid add-on and can use the free version of WooCommerce to sell your course.
Other Ecommerce Options: Spiffy & Other Platforms
Cost: Varies by platform, Spiffy Starts at $55/month
If you want something a little more advanced and different than WooCommerce, we’d recommend you take a look at Spiffy.
Spiffy allows you to easily create high converting order forms, sell subscriptions, offer upsells and much more. It also allows you to easily automate your follow up after different types of payment events happen with ActiveCampaign.
For example, you can run different automations after a subscription payment fails, after a multi-part payment plan fails, card expires, when a successful payment is made and lots of others.
In addition to Spiffy the other main Ecommerce options to choose from are ThriveCart or Samcart.
We’ve written a full post comparing all the leading ActiveCampaign Ecommerce platforms here if you’d like to find out more about the differences between them.
